Volcanos and Lava

Since undersea volcanic eruptions formed these islands, it shouldn’t be surprising to find some of that activity still going on.  It is, however, a phenomenon to behold.  This picture shows the flow of lava that has covered and closed a road and is adding new land to the seacoast.  Not far away is a village that was overwhelmed by flowing lava and families had to re-locate.  If you look closely at the pictures looking down into the crater you can pick out the tripods around the rim that are holding cameras and scientific instruments to monitor activity.
