Spring Lambs

The spring lambs are great fun to watch.  We have seen them only minutes from birth.  We have seen them rising on wobbly legs and struggling to get about.  Feeding on rich mother’s milk, they grow rapidly and soon are nibbling grass and drinking from the creek.  At first they are never apart from mother, then gradually this changes.  In time, gangs of the young get together for play as the mothers take a break from mothering.  Eventually mother offers no more meals and self-sufficiency sets in.  By the end of one summer you have look close to tell parents and children apart, especially after the old ones have donated their wool.
