Battle Harbour is a restored historic area something like Colonial Williamsburg in the U.S. The restoration is only partial. The island still contains the ruins of old boats, homes, and an aircraft that crashed in heavy fog on top of the mountain. Summer visitors can rent lodging in a restored him and eat simple meals in a small dining hall. There are exhibits and historical markers, including information about the fishing industry that once thrived in the area. You may also visit the building where Admiral Perry held his first news conference after returning from the North Pole. The small island and remaining evidences of the past make roaming around and taking pictures a favorite activity.
